While on vacation in NYC back in 2017, drummer Jim Moran was riding the subway from Queens to Coney Island when the idea to start this 80’s band was born. Playing in local cover bands with lead guitarist Scott Grocott, Jim shared the idea with Scott. We started planning and around that time Scott added a guitar synthesizer to his rig. We met lead singer David Vail who blew us away and we began rehearsing with our bass player friend Bob Erwin. Along the way we decided to add another lead guitar when we met Keith Powers. Keith fit in instantly. He was even in an 80’s band in the 80’s!! Not long after Bob moved on and we met our permanent bass player Paul Choboter. Paul brings super solid bass playing with great backup vocals that blend and harmonize well with David’s leads.
The band name comes from an SF 80’s dance club, “Club Dv8”. After a couple variations (DV8D, DV8) we realized the name for this band should be “Club Dv8” – Our mission, make it a dance party every time, everywhere we play! Our sets are high energy 80’s music we all know and love!

Jim Moran
Drums, ref whistle, Bubble Op.Growing up a music fan in the east bay, Jim started playing drums in 7 th grade and by the end of 8 th grade had a band that rocked their 8 th grade grad party in 84’. During High School he played in a punk rock band around the bay area including the all-ages 924 Gilman St in Berkeley. From there he played with his two best buds for many years in Castro Valley before transplanting to SLO County. Jim loves playing in solid bands with good people while making the dance floor move!
Scott Grocott

Paul Choboter
Bass/VocalsPaul Choboter really, really loves music. He grew up in a musical family, playing piano, guitar, and violin, and singing in choirs. He picked up his first bass when he was 9 years old, and has barely put it down since. Paul currently plays bass and sings backing vocals in Club Dv8 as well as one or two other awesome Central Coast bands. In his spare time, he teaches math at Cal Poly.
